Nobody seems to care about history being accurate any more. As long as it fits the narrative that English folks were universally bad and that vast amounts of money must be paid to the imagined victims of slavery. The Church of England buys into this piffle and has produced a big report into its slaving links with especial reference to the South Sea Company and has found £100 million down the back of the sofa to compensate communities that might have suffered. Where to start?

There is much wailing as the results of the 2021 Census are published and so that for the first time in almost two thousand years the majority of folks in England and Wales do not identify as Christian. Well sort of, many of the supposed godless are just like Cambridge University bisexuals. They will see the light sooner or later. Let me explain on this day before Advent.

In any study, you need a control group. When it came to train-wrecking your economy, driving folks to suicide and causing untold misery through mask-wearing, social-distancing, and staying away from dying relatives, the European control group was Sweden. The MSM did the bidding of the experts and a united political class, warning that Sweden would see mass deaths and that the streets of Malmo and Stockholm would be piled high with bodies. Well, not quite, but the language was apocalyptic. Ultimately, we dissenters were wrong, and citizens should only ever “follow the science”. Or else, it would end badly for us all back in Airstrip One.

He says this on a day when the WHO, normally bedwetters and scaremongers themselves, confirm that across this planet nobody at all has died from the Omicron variant of Covid. Me neither. Don’t get me wrong. If someone wants to pray at the Mosque every day during Ramadan or at any time of year that is great. But it is just not the sort of behaviour one normally associates with an apostate, that is to say someone who would, in some Mulsim countries, be killed for converting to Christianity. Yup it is that Liverpool bomber, you know the devout Christian, Emad Al Swealmeen, once again.

When the plague swept through this part of the world, the doors of the Church in this village stayed open at all times. Folks sought comfort and the pews were packed. Three vicars died of that plague, for it was one where the survival rate was not anywhere near 99%, but the Church stood by its flock. Wind forward to 2021.

Other than for my father’s funeral, I have not been to church since the start of the ludicrous lockdowns in March. For a while our Church here in the last village in Wales was closed but in September it sort of re-opened, though this family did not go.

I have been sent a stern email by the Vicar in Shipston about tomorrow’s funeral for my father. She knows my views and position but reminds me that the Church is only following the law in requiring us all to muzzle up and not sing. Naturally I have replied but the attachment below, the Church’s guidance on Covid prevention, strikes me as a monstrous deception which, in time, it will be forced to recognise and will come to regret.

As you can see below, the pathetic Church of England is facing demands to pull down a quite modern statue of Emperor Constantine from outside York Minister. Amazingly, the wretched CofE has now shown that it does have a spine and that this statue is safe, although it is looking at many others in light of the Black Lives Matter movement and issues surrounding slavery. And, apparently, it will also be seeking guidance from Justin Trudeau as to how to make statues of Jesus look less white.

Writing in The Church Times, the Right Reverend Richard Chartres, Bishop of London, suggests vicars growing beards could help the Church of England reach out to parishioners from Asia where wearing a beard could mark a man out as holy. He flagged up two priests in East London - the Rev. Adam Atkinson, Vicar of St Peter's church in Bethnal Green, and Rev. Cris Rogers of All Hallows Bow - who have grown bushy beards.
Chartres is himself a bearded fellow and if you did not think this man was already crackers he goes on to describe David Beckham

The local evangelical C of E church seems to be on a recruitment drive and Debbie the vicar has posted a flyer through my door saying that next week she will be praying for my road. Do I have any special requests for her prayers?
Hmmm…could she ask God to ensure that I get a parking space next time I take the car out and come back to find the street chocca? Might the vets practice decide t overcharged me for treating my cat Tara and send me a large refund? Could God ensure that West Ham win its next match as easily as its last two?
Praying for my road…truly how incredibly silly the Church of England has become these days.

As my father spends an hour in Church I explain why filial devotion does not stretch far enough for me to join him - I despair for the Church of England. Then I add to the points raised by Nigel Somerville in his earlier piece on another Geoff Morrow - of Gate infamy - China joke stock (HERE) and to Steve Moore's comments on Audioboom (made HERE) and make general points about companies that update on KPIs. I cannot say with any honesty that I could speak for two minutes without hesitation, deviation or repetition on who the Christian Scientists are. It is perhaps odd that I therefore find myself writing for the Christian Science Monitor. In fact it is twice odd as I do so for free, albeit only about once every six weeks or so. Everyone else I write for (and another contract started this week) does have to come up with the odd shekel or two. But the CSM and I are discussing a few ideas on that front too.
Who are Christian Scientists? I did know that they refused medical treatment and think disease is healed by prayer alone. That would save the NHS a few bob. Apparently they also do not believe in hell either. But, founded by Mary Baker Eddy they are essentially Christians. At least they do believe in something, unlike that really weird part of the Christian brotherhood, the Church of England.
I also cannot remember how I hooked up with them about 18 months ago. I got an email from someone called Laurent Belsie who for some reason sounded to me as if she was a glamorous French American bird.
